Resumes & Letters

Now that you have completed the self-assessment phase and are clear about who you are and what you want, it's time to ask what the employer wants.

What would a potential employer look for in a job candidate? On a piece of paper, draw a grid with four boxes. Use the headings shown in the boxes below. Be sure to make your grid big enough so that you have plenty of room to write. Use the grid to begin building a profile of the skills, qualities, experiences and education necessary to be hired.

Experience

Education

Skills

Qualities

Now think about how you are similar to the ideal candidate. Mark all the similarities that you wish to market during job search.
