across Washington during the past month, the statewide mountain snowpack
is average for this time of the year, according to USDA’s Natural

The conservation provisions in the 2008 Farm Bill will affect farmers
for years to come. The new provisions build on the conservation gains
made by landowners over the past decade. They simplify existing programs
and create new programs to address high priority environmental
protection goals. |

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) provided a wide range
of programs and services to enable Washington landowners to implement
various conservation practices and management activities in fiscal year
2008 (Oct. 2007-Sept. 2008). Signatures on the

some of Washington's conservation accomplishments made possible through
