The International Plant Names Index is compiled and managed by the Plant Names Project, a consortium comprising the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, the Harvard University Herbaria and the Australian National Herbarium, Canberra. The Plant Names Project receives core-funding from these three institutions and from the US National Science Foundation and U.S. Geological Survey grant DBI-9808220. PNP at Kew receives additional funding through the generosity of the Headley Trust and the Reuters Foundation.
