Licensed Industrial Hygienist Program
Signed into law in August of 1993, the
Illinois Industrial Hygienists Licensure Act became the first voluntary
licensing law in the United States regulating the Industrial Hygiene
profession. This Act came about due to the increasing problems presented
by various health and environmental problems.
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Safety Unit administers
the licensing of qualified Industrial Hygienists for the State of Illinois.
As of 2005, there have been over 225 industrial hygiene licenses issued
