This column is written each month by Marc Linit, associate dean of research and extension for the MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. Corollaries covers the latest information you need to know to make writing and processing your grant proposals as easy as possible. Grants submitted provides a list of all grants submitted each month, including PI and coPIs, agency, project title and amount requested. Grants awarded provides a record of all grants awarded to CAFNR faculty for the previous month.

Prescience: "A look at our interdisciplinary programs," by Marc Linit, associate dean of research and extension. Faculty and staff in CAFNR are familiar with our divisions and departments, but not everyone is familiar with the numerous cross-disciplinary programs that exist within the College ... We lead with an overview of the National Center for Soybean Biotechnology as presented by Henry Nguyen.

Prescience: "Improvements at our Centers and Farms: An investment in agricultural life sciences" by Marc Linit, associate dean of research and extension. During the recent debate on the Lewis and Clark Discovery Initiative (funded by the sale of MOHELA assets), some individuals expressed disappointment that the intent of the funding had shifted from "life sciences" to "agriculture." I strongly disagree with that assessment.

Prescience: "The University of the Future: How is CAFNR Positioned?" by Marc Linit, associate dean of research and extension. ... The April 26, 2007, issue of Nature (446: 7139) features an editorial entitled: “The university of the future.” The article discusses the traditional model of the U.S. research university and states that the “bedrock of each university is a system of discipline-specific departments.” ... Reading this editorial caused me to think about the administrative structure in CAFNR.
