Christina Newberry Joins NRCS as New Hampshire's 12th SCA Intern
January 8, 2009
Christina
Newberry is a proud native of New Hampshire. She received her Bachelors of
Social Science in Environmental Education from Unity College in Maine. After
graduation she became a program naturalist at Prescott Farm Audubon Society in
Laconia. Here she taught home school and preschool programs and was also a
naturalist in residency for two local elementary schools. Christina left the
Audubon in search of adventure and furthering her education out west. She spent
a year in northern Idaho teaching teambuilding, field science and connection to
place to middle school students while perusing her masters. Out west Christina
had the opportunity to explore the wonders of Sequoia Nation Forest in
California as well as hike the Grand Canyon, where she got engaged. Since
returning to the Northeast she spent a term teaching ecology at Ferry Beach
Ecology School in Saco, Maine. She plans to finish her masters and become a
certified science teacher in secondary education.
Christina is excited to be joining the NRCS team in Durham. She looks forward to
submerging herself in the world of agriculture and learning as much as she can
about cover crops, grazing practices and organic farming. She is delighted to
share her teaching
skills and looks forward to working with landowners. In her free time Christina
enjoys hiking, dancing, karaoke and planning her upcoming wedding.
Christina will be working out of the State Office, assisting the technology
staff.
Welcome Christina!
