Author Help

WELCOME AUTHORS!

This AUTHOR HELP section explains the mechanics of writing for the Forest Encyclopedia Network (FEN).  In this section you will learn how to effectively write contributions for any one of the volumes in the encyclopedia network. Writing for the encyclopedia network, like writing for other outlets is challenging and demanding. But, since the hypertext publishing process is fast and the potential viewing audience is large, writing for the encyclopedia network can be very rewarding. Your contribution will also be peer reviewed, which will help you achieve a high quality product and allows you to claim peer review credit in your own personal evaluation process as a scientist.

We recommend  that you read the overview of the entire authoring process before you begin. Then you might want to review the section which provides guidance on how to write hypertext pages and that deals with style issues.  Given this background, you will then be ready to join the encyclopedia network and submit an application to become an author.  Once your application is approved, you may begin to create new pages and import your own work from your desktop to your online pages.  When you finish uploading your written work, you will electronically forward your new content to FEN editors who will manage the peer review process.

IF YOU WISH TO PROVIDE A NEW SCIENTIFIC CONTRIBUTION TO THE FOREST ENCYCLOPEDIA NETWORK AND EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS, PLEASE CONTACT:

Mike Rauscher, FEN Managing Editor, using the email address:  mrauscher@bellsouth.net
