Kids & Environmental Education
Why is protecting the environment important? Explaining some of the
many reasons is one of the activities of the Illinois EPA. The following
links provide an interactive learning atmosphere, and offer information
for kids and educators:
- Our Educators'
Tools pages provide information for educators.
- We
have internships for those who
will soon be entering the work force.
- Our poster
and poetry pages provide information about our annual exhibit
and top finalists.
- Our Green
Youth Awards pages provide program information, along with pictures
and descriptions of past recipients.
- Our Envirofun
pages are designed to be easily understood by youngsters.
- Earth
Stewardship Day (ESD) is an annual non-profit local celebration
of Earth Day to promote environmental awareness, and is held at the
Illinois State Fairgrounds.
- The
Partners for Clean Air’s web page, Fun
With Breathe Easy Man, offers fun activities for the children to
enjoy.
- The Secret
Agent Worm website includes an exciting, interactive game, “Rocket
and Roll,” in which you must rescue Jane before she is blasted
off into space by diabolical M.U.D. agents. So dig in and have fun!
- Illinois
Student Environmental Coalition unites student environmental
organizations that are committed to improving environmental
practices at colleges and universities by facilitating the exchange
of resources and ideas.
- Explore
the U.S. EPA Kids and Climate Change Web Site and watch Climate
Animations that bring to life the science and impacts of climate
change. The site also provides games that help students, their parents
and their teachers learn about both the science of climate change
and what actions they can take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
