About the 2009 Conference

Our 2009 Practical Tools and Solutions for Sustaining Family Farms Conference will be held January 21-24, 2009 at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Pre-Conference — January 21–22, 2009
We’re offering a great slate of field trips, intensive short courses and interactive mini-courses the two days prior to the general conference. Plus, we’ll have a special eye-opening discussion Thursday evening with CDC epidemiologist and native Chattanoogan Joel Kimmons on the connection between sustainable farming and human health.

General Conference — January 23–24, 2009
Starting Friday morning, the two day general conference will offer eight tracks of conference sessions, state networking sessions, group networking sessions, a trade show, silent auction, video show, keynote by John Ikerd, Taste of Tennessee dinner and the opportunity to meet and learn from peers from across the region. The conference sessions will provide sustainable production and direct marketing information for horticultural and livestock producers, enterprise management lessons, farm policy education and community food systems development information.

BONUS! Post-Conference — January 25, 2009
USDA representatives will lead a ½ day grant writing workshop for organizations and institutions that serve the agricultural community.

As always, this conference will to provide you with the practical tools and solutions you need to be successful in your farming enterprise, your community foods projects and your advocacy and outreach work.
