Mission Statement:

The ARS Office of Outreach, Diversity, and Equal Opportunity (ODEO) is committed to providing, promoting, and maintaining equal employment opportunity for employees, applicants for employment, and customers.  The ODEO develops policies and procedures based on EEO laws and regulations.  The ODEO assists the Agency in being proactive in the development of a diverse work force.

Vision Statement:

The ARS ODEO is committed to enhancing the ARS mission.  ODEO places emphasis on work force diversity; program diversity; customer service; team building, facilitation and full/influential participation.  Every employee, applicant and every customer must be treated fairly and equitably, and with dignity and respect.  Discrimination in any form will not be tolerated.

Objectives:

  • Employ and empower a competent and highly skilled workforce, representative of America's great diversity, which enables the Agency to accomplish its mission.

  • Create a working environment that is free of discrimination and sexual harassment, and accessible to individuals with disabilities.

  • Recognize, appreciate and value diversity, thereby demonstrating trust, respect and concern for the welfare of all individuals.

  • Ensure that all policies, processes and procedures provide all individuals the opportunity to develop, participate and compete fairly and equitably.

  • To promote equal opportunity in employment through the enforcement of the federal civil rights laws and through education and technical assistance.
