The B.S. in Ecology and Environmental Sciences is a science-based, interdisciplinary program for students interested in all aspects of ecology, conservation, and environmental protection. Ecology and Environmental Sciences is the University of Maine's oldest and most successful interdisciplinary program. Students majoring in the program are taught and advised by faculty from five academic units, including:

Cadillac Mountain, Acadia National Park, class and research site for Ecology and Environmental Sciences, The University of Maine
Cadillac Mountain in nearby Acadia National Park
Since faculty have active research programs, students not only have access to the most up-to-date information, but also get employment opportunities in their fields of study during the academic year and the summer months. The program is designed for students who wish to pursue professional careers in environmental protection, natural resource conservation, management, ecology, planning, research, or environmental advocacy. The degree can also be used in preparation for postgraduate study.  The University of Maine offers both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Ecology and Environmental Sciences.
