NOAA performs research and develops models that are used to forecast tsunamis and create tsunami inundation and evacuation maps. Forecast models are provided to the NOAA's Weather Service forecasters and the Inundation models and maps are provided to State and national planners and emergency managers. Models are critical to using data to issue warnings to communities at risk.
