Studies of The Kansas Water Science Center

Water-quality monitor used to measure specific conductance, pH, water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity in streams. The USGS Kansas Water Science Center, Hydrologic Investigations Section, cooperatively works with a number of Federal, State and local governments to collect water-quantity and -quality data to describe the water resources in Kansas. These data are interpreted to assist with evaluation of flooding, watershed assessments, description of the transport of chemicals, and describe trends in water-quantity and quality in ground-water, streams, and reservoirs and the relation of these trends to watershed characteristics. Examples of the description of current studies and results are available in the left sidebar.

Current Water Conditions

The USGS provides current ("real-time") stream stage and streamflow, water-quality, and ground-water levels for over 170 sites in Kansas.
