Newsletters

Digester/Over the Spillway incorporates two older, separate publications geared to wastewater and drinking water operations, respectively. It includes information on regulations affecting both fields, calendars of upcoming water/wastewater events, and operator news.

Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program Newsletter is designed to keep our volunteers and the general public up to date with the latest VLMP news, upcoming volunteerism events and conferences and various lake issues. It also serves as a medium to show the role that the Illinois VLMP plays in the larger picture of international volunteer monitoring.

Reports

Biannual 319 Report
Grants issued by USEPA under Section 319 of the Clean Water Act include a condition requiring the submittal of a status report every six months. This report is prepared to satisfy that condition and publicize the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency's accomplishments in controlling nonpoint source pollution.

State of Illinois Public Water Supply Annual Compliance Report
The purpose of this report is to satisfy the requirement of Section 1414(c)(3) of the 1996 Amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). States with national primary enforcement authority are to prepare, make readily available to the public, and submit to the Administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) by July 1 of each year, an annual report on violations occurring during the previous calendar year of national primary drinking water regulations by public water systems (PWSs) in Illinois.

Illinois Water Quality Report
The Illinois EPA annually collects chemical, physical, biological, habitat and toxicity data on rivers and streams, inland lakes, Lake Michigan and groundwater to satisfy reporting requirements found in Section 305(b) of the Federal Clean Water Act (CWA). The primary purpose of the Section 305(b) process is to provide for an assessment of the overall water quality conditions of Illinois waters.

Illinois Groundwater Protection Program Biennial Comprehensive Status and Self Assessment Report responds to the need to manage groundwater quality by emphasizing a prevention oriented process. The IGPA is a comprehensive law which relies upon a state and local partnership. Although the IGPA is directed toward protection of groundwater as a natural and public resource, special provisions target drinking water wells.

Sediment Classification for Illinois Inland Lakes
This 1996 update report replaces the report by Kelly and Hite (1981). The sediment classification for Illinois lakes was updated to include additional data, increased number of parameters identified, and changes made to laboratory methodology since 1979. This report includes a statistical analysis of 854 sediment samples collected from 418 stations on 265 lakes during the years 1988 through 1994.
