- The Office of
Community Relations encourages and facilitates
communication between the public and the Illinois
EPA. "Public" means individuals, communities,
businesses and other organizations, that have
an interest in the activities and decisions of
Illinois EPA.
- The Office of Emergency
Response Emergency Operations Unit is the
branch of the Illinois EPA that is responsible
for coordinating the Agency's response to environmental
emergencies involving oil or hazardous materials
and ensuring that subsequent environmental contamination
is appropriately cleaned up
- The Office of Pollution Prevention
(OPP) was created under Illinois Toxics Pollution
Prevention Act of 1989. OPP conducts technical
assistance and educational outreach to help facilities
convert to less polluting raw materials, improve
housekeeping practices and increase process efficiency.
OPP also provides pollution prevention training
for Agency staff and works with the regulatory
programs to integrate voluntary pollution prevention
into their mainstream functions.
- The Office of Small
Business works with small businesses in complying
with environmental requirements. The Small Business
Office develops and publishes information specifically
for small businesses, opens up channels of communication
with small business associations and organizations,
responds to questions/concerns from small business
owners, and acts as an advocate for the small
business community within Illinois EPA.
- Illinois EPA's Environmental
Laboratory Accreditation Program operates
pursuant to the Illinois Environmental Protection
Act. The Act authorizes Illinois EPA to "establish
and enforce minimum standards for the operation
of laboratories."
