Geographic Activities

IEEE Member and Geographic Activities provide unique opportunities to attend technical presentations, create strong peer-to-peer connections, and participate in leadership opportunities that can make a positive distinction in IEEE members' jobs and careers.

Activities take place on a local level through the development and maintenance of geographical organizational units: Regions, Sections, Technical Chapters, Affinity Groups and Student Branches.

Member and Geographic Activities are volunteer-driven by members and the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities Board (MGA Board).

IEEE Sections Sections Congress - The MGA Board partnered with Region 7 and the Quebec Section to host the 9th IEEE Sections Congress.  It was the largest Sections Congress ever with over 1,050 attendees. Participants attended training sessions, learned about IEEE Programs, attended the IEEE Honors Ceremony and provided recommendations to the IEEE Board of Directors for action. A chapter is the technical subunit of one or more IEEE sections. Society chapters are your local link to the valuable resources available from the IEEE and its 39 technical societies. Chapter activities may include guest speakers, workshops, and seminars as well as social functions. Chapters provide society members with valuable opportunities to network at a local level - enabling both personal and professional growth.
