The early years of the conservation movement in the United States also saw the earliest developments in motion picture technology, and the Library of Congress's Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division is fortunate to possess a small but exceptionally valuable archive of footage attesting to the coincidence of the two cultural phenomena. The present collection reflects these holdings in two items that illuminate both the preservationist and utilitarian aspects of the conservation movement as they unfolded in the legacy of President Theodore Roosevelt.
