CFSAN Posts Its 2006 Program Priorities

On May 3, 2006, FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) posted on the web a copy of its FY 2006 Program Priorities. This document provides the Center's work product expectations to support CFSAN Program Priorities for the current fiscal year 2006 (October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2006), and is based on comments CFSAN received from stakeholders, as well as comments generated internally. The Partnership for Food Safety Education on the Today Show, Friday, May 5th

On Friday morning at approximately 8:30 a.m., the NBC Today Show will feature a segment on basic safe food handling with a live demonstration on the Plaza. Shelley Feist, the Partnership's Executive Director, will represent the Partnership and conduct the approximately 5 minute demonstration with a Today Show host. The "lively" Plaza demonstration is entirely focused on the FightBAC!® core four messages - Clean, Separate, Cook, and Chill.

As a supporting member of the Partnership, and as a Federal liaison to the effort, CFSAN has worked over these past few years to build up the credibility that earned Fight BAC! the opportunity to be featured on the NBC Today Show.

More details about Friday: A taped segment of approximately 1 minute will lead into the live demonstration. Featured in the taped segment will be statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on the prevalence of food borne illness in the United States, and on-camera CDC representative who will indicate that many foods can be the source of foodborne illness if they are not handled properly.
