Past Reasearch Areas

Active Networks Measurement:
Provide researchers with a basis to describe the CPU usage requirements of mobile code; develop active approaches to network measurement and control.
3G Wireless Cellular Telephony:
Develop models for IMT-2000 technology: cdma2000. Make tools available for the inudsry.
Agile Switching Infrastructures:
Develop technologies for survivable core network architecture. Work with IETF and OIF to develop technical specifications for an integrated control plane combining optical and Internet switching.
Keywords: MPLS, WDM, GMPLS, fast restoration/protection switching, RWA, OBS, GLASS simulation framework, NIST Switch.

Network Metrology, Modeling and Management:
To assist the development of new techniques and tools for measuring, modeling and managing networks.

Networking for Pervasive Computing:
Assist industry in the development of standard specifications for pervasive computing devices. Validate protocols that will enable devices in a pervasive computing environment and conduct performance evaluations on those technologies for coexistence. Identify technologies and standards gaps and overlaps, and work with industry to resolve the issues.
Keywords: Service Discovery Protocols, IEEE802, WPAN, WLAN, Coexistence, 2.4 GHz ISM Band
