PSEC Awards Nominations
The Puget Sound Engineering Council (PSEC) Engineers Week Banquet is held each February during National Engineers Week. Several Engineer of the Year awards are presented at that time. Nominations for each award are accepted by PSEC from each of its member societies. The Seattle Section IEEE has 4700 members and is the largest society in PSEC. There should be many well-qualified nominees for these awards from within our membership. There is a good chance that a well-prepared nomination will result in an award for an IEEE member. It would be an honor for our society to be well represented by these award winners.

The deadline for nominations is Saturday, January 10, 2009. It can take longer than you think to put together a nomination, however, so don't wait until the last minute. See http://www.ieee-seattle.org/awards.html for more details.

Chairs snow Blog:
Now it's gone - whew.
The new activities we are working on and status -
The "create content for Xplore access" project is submitted to IEEE.
We are still in evaluation of the webconferencing software we are going to use.
We are thinking about IEEE web hosting for our web site - 90% of the region web sites are on IEEE webhosting now.
We think that will allow better integration of new web site features IEEE will be coming out with in the next year.
Student paper contest dates firmed up. Have you signed up to myIEEE and the other web-based networking tools IEEE has (memberNet)? LinkedIn for IEEE'ers. My alma mater (UW) has a new networking tool (with job ads) and my company is now providing web-based networking tools internally.

As the new owner of a Wii - check out the cool projects you can do with a Wii remote - http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/projects/wii/

Polo Shirts

We have now shipped a new round of Grey IEEE Seattle Section Polo shirts, as volunteer awards and sold to members. If you are interested, let me (erik.godo@boeing.com) know, including a size and shipping address. The price remains $29.
