Happy New Year!
WWAP would like to extend our warm wishes for a happy and prosperous new year to all. In this coming year, we are especially looking forward to the launch of the third edition of the World Water Development Report in March, and hope to see you there, at the Fifth World Water Forum in Istanbul.
UNESCO Centre of Catalonia and Caixa Catalunya’s Community Projects Department present interactive teaching materials on water
On 12 November in Barcelona, Spain, the UNESCO Centre of Catalonia (UNESCOCAT) and Caixa Catalunya’s Community Projects Department presented two new interactive teaching tools that educate students about the status of the world’s freshwater resources. The first, ‘Water in the Twenty First Century’, is a series of posters and accompanying activities based on the second World Water Development Report, targeting students at secondary and higher education levels. The second tool, a computer game for upper primary and secondary students, allows students to explore and test their knowledge of the important lessons about water that are presented in the documentary ‘A Dream of Water’.

New Deputy Coordinator Michela Miletto joins WWAP
The World Water Assessment Programme is pleased to welcome Ms Michela Miletto, who joined the team on October 20th, 2008, as the new Deputy Coordinator. Ms. Miletto has been involved in the assessment, development and management of water resources for over 20 years, and has also worked in the fields of geothermal energy and environment. Her experience working in both research projects and technical programs assistance includes work in Italy, the Mediterranean, the USA, Europe, Central and South America, Eastern Africa and China.
