NRCS provides nearly $1 million to protect farmland

State Conservationist John A. Bricker today announced that NRCS is providing over $900,000 in federal funds to purchase conservation easements on more than 1500 acres of agricultural land in Essex, Rockingham and Rockbridge Counties.

Chesapeake Bay Watershed in Virginia 

The Chesapeake Bay Watershed is a large ecosystem that encompasses approximately 64,000 square miles in six states and the District of Columbia. Virginia has approximately 62 percent of the state in the Bay watershed.  Over half of Virginia’s streams and rivers flow to the Bay.
