OFRF’s
purpose is to foster the improvement and widespread adoption of
organic farming practices. OFRF pursues this purpose by directly
supporting research into organic farming practices through our grants
program, and by promoting advancement of farm policy and institutional
development--such as Cooperative Extension and land grant university
resources--that will serve all farmers interested in organic farming
practices.
OFRF’s website is intended to provide information
about organic farming research, as well as farm policy issues pertaining
to organic farmers and organic and sustainable farming practices.
Our intended audiences include organic farmers, farmers interested
in exploring organic farming practices, agricultural researchers,
and individuals who actively support organic farming methods through
their consumer choices and/or are simply interested in information
about organic farming.

Donations and Registering for Events
If you make an online donation or register for a fundraising event,
your information will be added to our donor list and database,
and you will be contacted about other OFRF activities, news, and/or
fundraising campaigns or events.
Financial Information: All
financial information provided to OFRF is transmitted using the
latest SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL technology is
an industry standard that automatically encrypts data before it
is sent to us. Along with this security, we ensure that such personal
information is stored securely and is only available by certain
qualified employees. Our donation page displays the Verisign Secure
Site Seal to assure you that our web site is authentic and that
all transactions are secured. The credit card information provided
at the time of donation is used only to process your payment and
will be not be used for any other purposes.
Subscriptions
Conditions pertaining to all subscriptions
If you subscribe to any of OFRF’s email or regular mailing
lists, you will be asked to submit complete contact information,
including your name, email address and physical mailing address.
However you may choose to opt for email-only contact. The additional
information you provide is retained for internal tracking purposes.
For example, in some cases (such as joining the OFAN list) your
street and zip code information is important to match your information
to federal districts, thereby ensuring that you are primarily
sending messages to your designated elected officials. In other
cases, we may choose to have the ability to identify to major
funders the geographic distribution of our constituency.
If you join our general e-mail list, we will
have a record of your e-mail address, physical address, and any
other information you choose to provide. We may contact you by
e-mail with general program information and updates, an on-line
newsletter, fundraising letters and information about upcoming
fundraising or other events.
If you join the Organic Farmers Action Network (OFAN)
list, we will have a record of your e-mail address, physical
address, and any other information you choose to provide. You
will receive informational updates and action alerts on farm policy
issues pertaining to organic farming.
If you join the Scientific Congress on Organic Agricultural
Research (SCOAR) list, we will have a record of your
e-mail address, physical address, and any other information you
choose to provide. You will receive SCOAR’s semi-monthly
newsletter intended specifically for individuals interested in
this organic farmer-researcher interactive network.
If you join our media list we will have a record
of your e-mail address, physical address, and any other information
you choose to provide. You will receive OFRF press releases and
other materials pertinent to journalists and members of the media.
How to Opt-Out or Unsubscribe
from a Mailing List
If you choose not to receive emails from us, simply send an email
to info@ofrf.org.
General Security
OFRF will never sell, trade, or share your personal
information to any third-party agencies. Our web site has forms
that require users to provide contact information such as name,
address, email information, and similar information. This information
is stored into our company database and is secured so that only
authorized employees may access it. The email address provided will
only receive the publications that are requested.
You should be aware that we use third-party vendors to provide services
in our offline business operations. The information that you submit
on this site may be provided to those vendors on a confidential
basis so that those vendors can provide services (such as processing
mailings, or processing credit card transactions) on our behalf.
Although OFRF does its best to protect your privacy on our site,
you can do more to protect yourself. You have control over your
own privacy. Think carefully before providing any personal information.
Evaluating Traffic on the Site
OFRF’s Internet Service Provider uses software that monitors
IP addresses to analyze trends in traffic on our web site. OFRF also uses Google Analytics to track website traffic. Google Analytics uses a javascript to set a session cookie. Our ISP and Google Analytics
gather aggregate information about visitors which is not linked
to personally identifying information.
