Funding Trends in Sustainable Ag and Food Systems

To bring new information and wisdom to philanthropy supporting sustainable agriculture and food system reform, the W. K. Kellogg Foundation and SAFSF commissioned Headwaters Group Philanthropic Services to collect and synthesize funding and giving trends.   This comprehensive overview is intended to help funders understand gaps and ways to fill them, opportunities for leveraging resources, and ways to build successful strategic alliances with public and private partners.

2003-2006: Trends in Sustainable Agriculture

Looking for information about SAFSF's 2008 Forum in Portland, Oregon?

The Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems Funders (SAFSF) is a project of Community Partners. Formed in 1991, SAFSF is a national working group of grant-makers that seeks to promote a more sustainable agriculture and food system. We do this primarily by fostering communication, engaging in shared learning and exchanging information about issues connected to sustainable agriculture and food systems. SAFSF seeks to carry out its mission by providing opportunities for collaboration, increasing awareness of the issues as well as funding needs, and expanding beyond the current membership to increase support and funding for organizations that (i) promote sustainable food production; (ii) link to concerns about sustainability of our food system; and/or (iii) connect food production with issues of environmental stewardship, diet and health, and viability of communities.
