Cow and Bull Auction Report for 09/17/08

Receipts:  1250     Last Week:  1082     Year Ago:  981

   Compared to last week, Slaughter cows traded 1.00-2.00 lower.  Bulls
1.00-3.00 lower.  Supply moderate.  Demand mostly good for most all
classes of both take home and slaughter.  Weather along with grass
conditions about as good as it gets for mid-September here in the
Acorn-Belt.

Note:  Next Wednesday Sept 27th at ORS, a couple larger sell-outs 150
head of extra nice and fancy young blk and blk baldie springer cows
consigned with 65-70 head with blk calves by side.

   Slaughter Bulls: Yield Grade 1-2  1200-2150 lbs 65.00-73.50, high
dressing 72.50-78.00, few low dress 57.00-64.00.

   Bred Cows: Medium and Large 1-2  3-7 yrs 850-1250 lbs 2nd and 3rd stage
740.00-860.00 per head, some bunches blk/blk baldie 940-1250 lbs 2nd and
3rd stage 950.00-1075.00.  Mixed 6 yrs to mostly short-solid mouth 1150-
1260 lbs 2nd and 3rd stage 580.00-725.00 per head, some larger drafts
blks 725.00-870.00.

   Cow-Calf Pairs: Medium and Large 1-2  2-7 yrs 1000-1350 lbs with
babies to 250 lbs calves 970.00-1025.00 per pair, indiv 5 yrs 1300 lbs
with 250 lbs calf 1140.00, couple larger groups short-solid and broke-
mouth 1100-1175 lbs with babies to 250 lbs calves 800.00-850.00.  Few
young 2-4 yrs 750-850 lbs with babies to 300 lbs calves 800.00-925.00.
