Cattle Auction Report Close for 09/19/2008

Receipts:  2570    Last Week:  1443    Year Ago:  2384
 
   Compared to two weeks ago, feeder cattle and calves sold steady to 2.00 
lower.  Demand was good as buyers shrugged off much of the bearish pressure 
currently facing agricultural markets, caused from trouble on Wall Street and 
extreme weather patterns.  Quality of the offering was outstanding with 
yearlings mostly offered in load lots and calves sold in large uniform groups 
that were evenly mixed between those that were weaned or right off the cow.  
A nice crowd was on hand for the 21st Annual Customer Appreciation Day.  
Slaughter cows sold steady to 1.00 lower with bulls 1.00-3.00 lower.  Supply 
included 10 percent cows and bulls with 90 percent feeder cattle.  The feeder 
run was made up of 75 percent steers and 25 percent heifers with around 66 
percent weighing over 600 lbs.

lbs 125.00-126.50; 500-550 lbs 125.25-128.25; 550-600 lbs 116.75-126.75; 600-
