With coins, we literally carry the past in our pockets.  Yet seldom do we stop and consider the historical riches at our fingertips.  This site aims to change that by stimulating a lifelong enjoyment of numismatics.

The United States Mint H.I.P. Pocket Change^™ Web site showcases the connection between this country's coins and its people.  Through games, stories, and other engaging activities, the site brings to life both the extraordinary individuals who appear on U.S. coinage and the generations of citizens who have carried this change.  What a great place to examine the "History In your Pocket" (H.I.P.)!

In addition, H.I.P. Pocket Change is building an online educational community that helps teachers share the innovative ways they find to use coins in the classroom.  The site would not have been possible without the contributions of teachers and organizations, combined with a Federal Resources for Educational Excellence (FREE) grant from the Department of Education.
