Assistant Analyst

National Security Division

The National Security Division seeks candidates for an immediate opening for an assistant analyst.

The National Security Division prepares analyses of defense policies and programs to support the work of Congressional Committees. The division’s recent work includes the budget needed to maintain today’s military forces and the ability of the U.S. Army and Marine Corps to sustain the occupation of Iraq.

The successful candidate will provide the division’s analysts with spreadsheet and statistical analyses, graphics, literature reviews, and other research assistance. He or she may also conduct independent research on a variety of topics.

Qualifications: The position requires a person who can work well with a number of senior staff members, take initiative to gather suitable data to address policy questions, and complete assignments in a timely manner. Candidates should have strong quantitative and writing skills, be adept at using spreadsheets and basic graphics software, and desire to work on issues of current interest to the Congress. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in economics, mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering or a related discipline. This position requires U.S. citizenship; the incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Salary & Benefits: Salary range is $36,000 - $43,000 and will be commensurate with experience, education, and other qualifications. CBO offers an excellent benefits package and an attractive work environment.
