  • ALA-CBC Joint Committee
    This committee enables the Children's Book Council and ALA to explore areas of mutual concern. It meets twice annually at CBC headquarters in New York.

  • Appointments
    Committee on Appointments is charged to advise the president-elect of the Association on nominations for committee appointments.
  • Awards
    The Awards Committee makes recommendations to the Executive Board and the ALA Council on all policies relating to awards to be made or sponsored by ALA and its units. It administers the general awards and scholarships presented in the name of the American Library Association, known as "ALA Awards."
  • Chapter Relations Committee
    Develops and recognizes Chapters as integral components of ALA; encourages discussion, activities, and programs that support the mutual interests of ALA and the Chapters; provides a forum wherein Chapters can share ideas and concerns of common interest and identify common needs and goals; serves as an advisory committee to the Chapter Relations Office; and more
  • Committee on Legislation
    The Committee on Legislation's charge is to have full responsibility for the Association's total legislative program on all levels – federal, state, and local. To recommend legislative policy and programs for Council approval and to take the necessary steps for implementation. To protest any legislation of executive policy adversely affecting libraries. To seek rulings and interpretations of laws and regulations affecting the welfare and development of libraries.
  • Committee on Accreditation (COA)
    The Committee on Accreditation (COA) is responsible for the execution of the accreditation program of ALA. The committee also develops and formulates standards of education for library and information studies for the approval of Council.

    CORS is the advisory committee for the Office for Research and Statistics
  • Constitution and Bylaws
    The Constitution and Bylaws Committee reviews and considers amendments to the ALA Constitution and Bylaws.
  • HRDR Advisory Committee

    Advises the Office for Human Resource Development and Recruitment (formerly Office for Library Personnel Resources, OLPR) on activiteis, problems, and procedures related to library concerns in such areas as recruitment, utilization, education and training, and staff welfare.

  • Membership
    Establishes general policies, programs, and procedures to secure new members; responsible for the implementation of these programs; coordinates membership promotion activities of all units and chapters of the Association; coordinates the ALA committee internship program; makes recommendations concerning membership dues; serves the Association as a sounding board on membership.

    Committee on Membership Meetings charge is to plan the agenda for the membership meetings at the ALA Annual Conference 
  • Nominating
    The Nominating Committee nominates candidates for the elective positions of president-elect, treasurer, and councilor-at-large.
