Description

Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) Roads is an overview of the road networks for all fifty States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The dataset is the transportation layer for The National Map. The data should be displayed and analyzed at scales appropriate for 1:100,000-scale data. The data was original published in 2002.This information was obtained primarily from the Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Statistics website. The county boundaries and FIPS codes for each area are based on 1990 TIGER boundary files from the U.S. Census Bureau. For this data set, the term "county" refers to Boroughs and Census Areas.

The vector data is available from The National Map Seamless Server in geographic projection and NAD83 Horizontal Datum.
