Who makes a shuttle mission happen? Everyone knows about the astronauts, but they are only part of a large team of people who work together to make each mission a success. A space shuttle mission is a complicated endeavor involving a wide variety of elements, and it requires the involvement of a group of individuals with just as wide a variety of talents.

Through this series of profiles, students and teachers will learn more about the STS-118 space shuttle mission through a behind-the-scenes look from a few members of the team that is preparing for the flight. At the same time, readers will learn more about some of the many diverse jobs performed by the NASA workforce.
