In 1998, the National Park Service signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Parks Canada authorizing a cross-border program of technical exchange and cooperation. This MOU was renewed for another five years in 2003. The Office of International Affairs coordinates high-level contacts between the NPS and Parks Canada. Cooperative cross-border activities are developed and managed by individual NPS units.
Hands across the border! The Superintendent of Glacier NP joins in a handclasp with the Superintendent of Waterton Lakes NP, Canada which ajoins the American Park to the North. The scene is at border monument along the international boundary.
