Q: What guidance does the FDA have for Laboratory Testing?

A: You can locate food analysis laboratories in the Yellow Pages (Business listing pages) of the telephone directories of a number of the largest cities in the United States and foreign countries, under the category "Laboratories". The Yellow Pages telephone information operator will be able to help you. Most of the laboratories that are listed in the Yellow Pages are engineering materials testing laboratories — only a few of the laboratories specialize in food analysis. Another source of information is advertisements for food analysis laboratories in the professional journals for food manufacturers (you can find these journals in the reference section of a large regional library). The FDA cannot recommend particular laboratories and does not maintain a list of laboratories.
