Initiatives

  1. Academic Geriatric Resource Program (AGRP): Through its six campus centers, AGRP develops, implements and evaluates programs to educate and train health care providers in the multiple disciplines that care for older persons, and advances public service and research in this area.
  2. Anatomical Donation Program (ADP): The Anatomical Donation Program supports the education of health professionals, and the advancement of scientific research at the University of California and beyond, via donated body programs (a.k.a. willed body programs) based at each UC medical school.
  3. The California Health Benefits Review Program (CHBRP): CHBRP the responds to requests from the State Legislature to provide independent analysis of the medical, financial, and public health impacts of proposed health insurance benefit mandates and repeals.
  4. The California Telehealth Network (CTN): Funded by the Federal Communications Commission and others, the California Telehealth Network will bring the benefits of telehealth and telemedicine to the areas of California where needs are most acute, connecting over 300 public and non-profit health care providers to a statewide - and nationwide - broadband network.
  5. Proposition 1D: In November 2006 California voters approved Proposition 1D, an education bond providing the University of California with $200 million for infrastructure to expand medical school enrollment and build and enhance telemedicine statewide. The University continues to work to leverage the Proposition 1D activities in coordination with the California Telehealth Network, to bring high quality healthcare to all Californians.
  6. Programs In Medical Education (PRIME): UC medical schools continue to develop new educational opportunities to prepare medical students to be expert in caring for underserved and increasingly diverse communities. UC Programs In Medical Education (PRIME) are focused on meeting the needs of these communities through innovative medical education programs that include specialized coursework, structured clinical experiences, advanced independent study, and mentoring, all designed to prepare medical students to become clinicians, leaders, and policy-makers with the skills needed to serve diverse and underserved communities.
