WASHINGTON, July 10,
2008 - Today, Secretary
Ed Schaefer met with
the USDA Green Purchasing/BioPreferred
Team to congratulate
them on winning the
prestigious White
House "Closing
the Circle Award."
The Green Purchasing/BioPreferred
Team was selected for
this prestigious award
by the Office of the
Federal Environmental
Executive from nearly
200 nominations. This
annual program is required
by Executive Order 13423,
"Strengthening
Federal Environmental,
Energy, and Transportation
Management," and
recognizes outstanding
Federal environmental
stewardship.
This year, there
were 15 winners and
14 honorable mentions
in categories such
as environmental management
systems, pollution
prevention, sustainable
buildings, etc.
