Office of Corporate Research, Technology, and Innovation Management Communications and Outreach Team

Who We Are

The Communications and Outreach Team is organized under the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA's) Office of Corporate Research, Technology, and Innovation Management (HRTM). HRTM consists of two other teams in addition to the Communications and Outreach Team: Research and Technology Program Development and Partnership Team, and the Exploratory Advanced Research Team.

What We Do

The HRTM Communications and Outreach Team develops and conducts an R&T communications strategy and plan that supports Agency-wide R&T programs and the technology and innovation delivery needs of the FHWA program and field offices. The office establishes and maintains the FHWA Product Distribution Center and FHWA Research Library, and the R&T information management system to support the FHWA R&T program. The team provides communication and marketing assistance, outreach, and coordination services for all R&T-related activities; including FHWA-wide media (publications such as Public Roads magazine, FOCUS, etc.), Web site development, CD-ROM production, support for presentations, exhibits, speech writing, and marketing support. In addition, the team coordinates publication of RD&T materials, graphic design, electronic publishing, and technology marketing and publishes an Agency-wide R&T report.

Our Responsibilities

Our responsibilities include providing an agency point of contact and coordination for technology and innovation delivery and working with the appropriate FHWA offices to communicate more effectively the corporate R&T story, R&T developments, R&T innovation strategies, and best practices.

The End Result

The desired outcome is more effective and comprehensive information-sharing, knowledge management, and communications internally and externally with our partners and customers, including the general public. For example, the purpose of this Web site is to disseminate the latest and broadest information about the achievements and activities of the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center and RD&T, including research results and current research activities.
