Justice Anthony Kennedy selected as 2009 Commencement Speaker


According to the Stanford Daily, Justice Anthony Kennedy has been selected as the 2009 Commencement Speaker. Kennedy, a 1958 Stanford graduate, has been a Supreme Court Justice since his appointment by President Ronald Reagan in 1988.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Lecture on Monday

Martin Luther King, Jr. giving his famous On Monday, January 19th, we recognize the 80th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the renowned civil rights leader. Stanford Libraries have many of his papers and videos, including a documentary of his 1967 visit to Stanford. Stanford also houses the Martin Luther King, Jr. Research and Education Institute , which produced his papers and The Martin Luther King, Jr. encyclopedia, online and in the HASRC (Lane Room).

The official website for the anniversary celebration, from San Jose Public Libraries and San Jose State University Library - includes details about anniversary events in San Jose. Professor Clayborne Carson, director of our Institute, will speak on "The King Legacy at Stanford" on Monday, January 12th, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. in the Black Community Services Center Community Room.
