Immediate Office of the Executive Vice President

The Executive Vice President is the Chief Administrative Officer for business functions within the Office of the President in Oakland, as well as for the ten-campus University of California System.

The Deputy to the Executive Vice President — Business Operations has executive responsibility for developing policies, programs and initiatives affecting the University of California's business and finance functions and represents the University and the Executive Vice President to other senior managers within the University, government officials and top policy makers in external operations.

Staff in the Immediate Office of the Executive Vice President support a wide-ranging array of business initiatives, operations, and objectives.

Universitywide Policy Office
The Universitywide Policy Office oversees the policy-making process in all areas for which the President has authority. The University of California policy process involves broad consultation with several University constituencies on ten campuses. Working with the Legislative Director, the Universitywide Policy Office assists Divisions in assessing the need for policy responses to enacted federal and state legislation. The Policy Office coordinates all Delegations of Authority from the President to the Chancellors and Senior Managers, and is the official repository of historical and current University policy issuances. The Policy Office also provides policy interpretation, monitoring and implementation for matters related to Universitywide trademark and associated licensing issues, which have been delegated to the Executive Vice President — Business Operations.
