How can I check the status of my article?

A: Before your article has been accepted, it must be tracked by the journal reviewing it. Articles submitted using an online submission system can be tracked during the review process by logging on to the relevant online submission system using your username and password. For articles submitted via hardcopy or e-mail, please contact the editor/editorial office for a status update during the review process.

Once a decision has been made on an article, the corresponding author will be notified. If the article is accepted, it will be entered into our production tracking system and you will receive an acknowledgement letter containing the production reference number, accompanied by an offprint order form and a journal publishing agreement. The production reference number along with the corresponding author's name can be used to track the status of the article at: External link  http://authors.elsevier.com/TrackPaper.html.

It is also possible to set up e-mail alerts for automatic notification of key milestones as your article progresses through the publication process.

Note that the production reference number is different from the editorial reference number assigned by the editor. Also please note that this system is only able to track the status of articles that have been accepted for publication and have been entered into our production tracking system.

Can you provide me with a PDF of my article?

A: Elsevier is currently rolling out a program to provide authors via e-mail with a PDF of their published article as a replacement for the current method of sending printed offprint's via surface mail. If your article is in a journal participating in the program, you will be notified during the production process. For those titles not in the PDF e-offprint program, it is currently not Elsevier policy to provide PDF files. If this poses a particular problem for you or if you have a specific requirement, please contact the External link  Global Rights Department.
