 Image: Aedes mosquito eggs

These are eggs of Aedes mosquitoes. They are laid singly on damp surfaces near water. The shiny eggs belong to Aedes aegypti, the mosquito that transmits yellow fever and dengue fever. The rough or matte eggs belong to Aedes triseriatus, the eastern treehole mosquito that transmits La Crosse encephalitis.
