Summer Food Service Program

Reimbursement Rates for 2009

The “Simplified Summer” provisions have been expanded nationwide.  Since January 1, 2008, all SFSP sponsors received the maximum “meal times rates” reimbursement!

Although the 2009 SFSP reimbursement rates notice is published with both the combined and separate operational and administrative rates, SFSP reimbursements are now based on the number of reimbursable meals served multiplied by the combined operating and administrative rate for that meal.  Sponsors must still maintain documentation of costs, but there is no monthly reporting of costs to the State agency.  For your convenience, the charts below reflect only the combined operating and administrative rates.

Example: One hundred reimbursable lunches were served to eligible children at a rural SFSP site.  100 meals x 3.0375 = $303.75 (reimbursement to the SFSP sponsor)

Effective January 1, 2009 - December 31, 2009

USDA annually informs the public of the adjustments to the reimbursement rates for meals served in the Summer Food Service Program for Children. Adjustments for 2009 are based on the 4.1 percent increase in the food away from home series of the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers for the period November 2007 through November 2008.
