Summer Food Service Program

Sponsors: A Simplified Approach to Summer Meals

If you did not become a sponsor because you thought there was too much paperwork, take a look at the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) today.  USDA now makes it easier for sponsors to provide meals to children in lower-income areas.

Sponsors in all states are benefiting from an initiative that simplifies paperwork, and makes calculating payments easier.

There are no separate administrative or operating cost accounts or records to keep.  Although documentation of costs must be maintained, there is no monthly reporting of costs to the state agency.  Sponsors earn the maximum rates of reimbursement for the summer meals they serve.

This simplified approach is available to all types of sponsors, including schools, government agencies, residential camps, private nonprofit organizations, and National Youth Sports Programs.
