Hosts Seventh Annual 'Pick Up the Pinchot' Clean-up Day
VANCOUVER, WA ––Join us for the Gifford Pinchot
National Forest's Seventh Annual Pick Up the Pinchot (P.U.P.) clean-up
day. Scheduled for Saturday, September 24 - National
Public Lands Day -- Pick-Up the Pinchot will be held at two sites
this year.
The Mt. Adams Ranger District will host a litter pick-up on the east side
of the Forest along Forest Road 24 near the Sawtooth Huckleberry Fields.
The Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument is sponsoring a litter
clean-up at recreation sites along East Fork Lewis River near Sunset campground
east of Battle Ground, Wash.
Also, in recognition of National Public Lands Day, no fees will be charged
on Saturday, September 24, at Northwest
Forest Pass sites.
"I'm excited and encouraged to see people getting involved with their
national forests," said Gifford Pinchot Supervisor Claire Lavendel.
"We really need the public's help to clean up these heavily used
recreation sites."
Nationwide, thousands of people will donate time to projects improving
public lands on September 24. Volunteers should bring a lunch, gloves,
rain gear, and sturdy shoes or boots. Litterbags will be provided.
