Learn to “read” the effects of the 1980 eruption on the land from this visitor center that sits only 5 1/2 miles from the crater.

Discover that the eruption of Mount St. Helens was more than just a single event. See first hand how scientists continue to monitor this active volcano.

The center includes: exhibits with a geological focus, a 16-minute theater program, ranger-led programs, and a bookstore.

Current hours of operation.

Closed in Winter.   A Monument Pass is required and available here. No pets are allowed at viewpoints or on trails.
