This is a list of 13 major industry sectors as categorized by the Center for Responsive Politics, a non-partisan, non-profit research group that tracks money in politics. These industry sectors lobby Congress on legislation, give campaign contributions to Members of Congress, and are affected by laws and regulations. OpenCongress will soon offer more detailed information about the many ways in which industries participate in the Congressional process. Our goal is to make it possible for the public to draw connections between lobbying activity, campaign contributions, and the actual substance of bills in Congress.
