Students Attend 2008 Irrigation Show
The IAEF sponsored its sixth annual essay contest for students interested in pursing careers in the irrigation industry. Three winners and their instructors received all-expense-paid trips to Irrigation Show 2008, which was held Nov. 2-4 in Anaheim, Calif. To read the winning essays, click here.

The students were asked to create a video or write an essay about why they are interested in the irrigation industry and what they hoped to learn by attending the show. The Foundation selected three winners; one from the agriculture industry and two from the turf/landscape/golf industry segment. The Foundation also awarded a trip to the three winners of the PLANET Student Career Days irrigation competitions which were co-sponsored by the IAEF. The event was held in Atlanta, Ga., March 26-29, 2008.

2008 Faculty Academy Earns Top Marks
Almost 30 instructors and professors from colleges around the world participated
in IAEF’s annual Faculty Academy, June 26-27 in Denver. The 2008 session attracted
almost twice as many attendees as the prior year’s event. The two-day academy provides intensive,
classroom and field instruction in irrigation concepts and best practices.
Highlights included training on sprinkler spacing, electrical troubleshooting and a hydraulics lab. Participants also toured INVESCO Field, Mile High Stadium,
home of the Denver Broncos, and a green roof presentation and a tour at the Conservation Gardens at Northern Water.
