Food

FONZ Food Service offers meals and snacks to suit every appetite, with meal menus ranging from traditional burgers and hot dogs to grilled chicken sandwiches and salads, and snack foods from ice cream confections to hot pretzels.

Food concessions include:

  • Mane Restaurant, near Lion/Tiger Hill
    Hamburgers, Boca burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, combo meals, sides, snacks, and more
  • Panda Plaza Grille
    Hamburgers, Boca burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, combo meals, sides, snacks, and more
  • Panda Café, overlooking the Fujifilm Giant Panda Habitat
    Subs, pizzas, salads, and snacks
  • Popstop across from the Small Mammal House (open seasonally)
    Hot dogs, popcorn, soft pretzels, and snacks

Snack stands are scattered throughout the park (open seasonally), as are soda, water, and snack vending machines. There is a popcorn wagon at Panda Plaza and two ice cream kiosks, one next to Reptile Discovery Center and another near the Seals and Sea Lions exhibit.

Bring Your Own Picnic

Visitors may bring their own food and beverages. Coolers are permitted but not grills or other cooking devices. There are picnic areas throughout the Zoo, available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Shopping

National Zoo Stores are located in Panda Plaza, Lion/Tiger Hill, and the Visitor Center. You may also shop at our National Zoo Store Online.

Amenities

Strollers are available to rent; ask at any information kiosk throughout the park for location. (FONZ members receive a discount on stroller rentals.)

An ATM is located at the Visitor Center.

Souvenir Zoo maps are available at the Visitor Center and information kiosks throughout the park for $2.

Public restrooms are located in Panda Plaza, next to the Zoo Police Station, inside the Visitor Center, and inside Amazonia.

There are no lockers or other storage facilities for visitors at the National Zoo.

There is not a kennel where visitors may leave pets during their visit. Pets are not permitted in the Zoo (except for assistance animals) and leaving your pet unattended in your vehicle is strongly discouraged.
