What is the National Council on Folic Acid?

The National Council on Folic Acid (NCFA) is a partnership of national organizations and associations, state folic acid councils and government agencies whose mission is to improve health by promoting the benefits and consumption of folic acid.

NCFA is managed by the Spina Bifida Association and is supported in part by a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Participate in NCFA’s Strategic Planning Process

NCFA’s Steering Committee held an informative and productive strategic planning retreat in early 2008. Members emerged from the intense day-long sessions with renewed support for ideas ranging from retaining the current mission statement to determining NCFA's most important role in the community.

Rejuvenating the work of NCFA based on this new plan sets forth an exciting goal for the year.  Please help us to keep the momentum going.  You can be part of the positive changes taking place for this coalition by volunteering for a work group. Contact Adriane Griffen at agriffen@sbaa.org if you are interested in volunteering for a work group.

Folic Acid Awareness Week

Mark your calendars — Folic Acid Awareness Week is January 5-11, 2009.

Visit NCFA’s website, www.folicacidinfo.org, for resources that partners can use.
