Dr. Edward Ray, President

Dr. Edward Ray was appointed as the 14th president of Oregon State University on June 5, 2003.

Dr. Edward Ray came to Oregon State from Ohio State University where he served as executive vice president and provost since 1998. He was a member of the economics faculty at Ohio State for more than 30 years, serving as department chair from 1976 to 1992.

Dr. Ray's research interests include the history of protectionism in the U.S., the role of financial reform in economic development, and foreign direct investment in the U.S. and abroad. He has been published in leading economic journals and has authored or co-authored several books on economics topics.

He received his B.A. in mathematics from Queens College (CUNY) in 1966, and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in economics from Stanford University in 1969 and 1971.
