Biological Systems Engineering

Research Emphasis

Graduate Student

One of the more exciting aspects of University Research is that it is constantly changing. New discoveries, the unexpected, even blind alleys, all contribute to a dynamic research environment. Then too there are the practical considerations of funding, personnel, lab space, and equipment.

All this together makes it difficult to permanently categorize what we do. However, based on the research that has recently been done and the research that is currently underway, our faculty have established four general emphasis areas of research focus.

Bioprocessing & Bioproducts Engineering

Food Engineering

Land, Air, Water & Environmental Engineering

Emerging Areas:

Automation and Mechanization

Land, Air, Water, and Environmental Engineering (LAWREE) is our oldest emphasis area whereas Bioprocessing and BioProducts Engineering is our newest.
